In the Season 11 finale of Chicago Fire, the character Mouch finds himself in crisis. Firehouse 51 is faced with a Homeland Security case that puts the city's safety at risk. Matt Casey returns to Chicago after his colleague Stella informs him of high-caliber ammunition found on a rescue scene. The ammunition belongs to an anti-government group planning to damage Chicago's electrical infrastructure. As the crew responds to a fire at an electrical plant caused by the ammunition, they face a sniper attack. Casey, Stella, Gallo, and Carver track down the shooter and engage in a shootout. Amidst the chaos, Mouch is shot and rushed to the hospital. While doctors initially remove the bullet and stop the bleeding, Mouch's health takes a turn for the worse, leaving his fate uncertain until the next season.
